How to activate email 2FA?

Learn how to activate email 2FA on your Weltrade account to add an extra layer of security. This article explains where to find the two-factor authentication settings and what to do if you do not receive confirmation emails. Managed by Weltrade Ltd.

Your email address is one of the most important security elements of your Weltrade profile. It is used to receive login confirmations, password-reset links, withdrawal confirmations, and important notifications. If your email becomes compromised, an attacker could potentially gain access to your trading account or personal information.

To protect yourself, we strongly recommend enabling 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your email account.

What is 2-factor authentication (2FA)?

2-Factor Authentication adds an additional verification step to your login process. With 2FA enabled, even if someone learns your email password, they cannot access your email without the second authentication factor - usually a temporary code generated through:

  • An authentication app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc.)

  • SMS confirmation

  • Security key (e.g., YubiKey)

  • Email provider’s built-in prompt on your mobile device

This dramatically reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

Why email security is crucial for Weltrade clients

Your email is directly connected to your Weltrade account. If your email is hacked, an attacker may:

  • Reset your Weltrade account password

  • Approve unauthorized actions

  • Access sensitive personal data

  • Intercept important financial notifications

2FA acts as a strong security shield against these risks.

General security recommendations for your email

To maximize protection, always follow best practices:

  • Use a strong, unique password
Avoid using the same password for email and other websites.

  • Change your password regularly
Especially if you use your email across multiple services.

  • Do not share your email password with anyone
Including unofficial “support” accounts or unknown contacts.

  • Monitor your login activity
Most email providers allow you to view recent login locations/devices.

  • Keep your recovery phone number and backup email updated
This ensures you never lose access to your account.
